Does anyone remember an 80's horror/thriller movie about people turning into mannequins?

What I can remember most is the final part , where a guy in his 20's is trying to escape, first a mall, then a big desolated city. And i think he was already dragging his leg, which was a mannequin leg. Right before he could leave he turned completely into a mannequin. It was mid 80's and that's all I can remember, I was not allowed to watch it, but caught that last part. It is not that romance movie with the girl that goes back and forth.
