How is it possible for time stop in a singularity, or anywhere really?

General Relativity shows that it must. Just because it is counter-intuitive to humans who live their lives in a Universe where time always moves at a constant rate, nature doesn't have to follow that same pattern. It's like a fish asking about fire...common sense is just a prejudice we learn based on our environment.
