Minecraft question, please help!?

Ok. so i tried downloading a texture pack from http://www.modminecraft.com/category/texture-packs/ (the one at the top) and when i clicked on it, the screen went black, i tried doing EVERYTHING and eventually just closed out of it. now whenever i log in it flashes black, shows the big orange and white logo, flashes black again, then shows that dirt screen where you can usually choose single player multiplayer etc. but it's only the dirt screen, and then it just goes black and nothing happens. how can i fix this? i tried re-downloading minecraft and it's just the same problem
