Red Dead Redemption? Should I get it?

I've been getting as much of an insight that I can on this game to figure out whether or not I should buy it. It looks great, and I loved the previous one. But I am a big multiplayer guy. I've heard that the single player mode of this game is outstanding. But how is the multiplayer? The game looked completely flawless until I noticed that there is an auto-aim feature in the multiplayer. What the heck is that about? Does that mean you don't even have to aim at all yourself? Sounds like it kind of negates the competitiveness in the multiplayer to me.
