Minecraft Multiplayer....Crash?

When I try to log into the multiplayer server I just became a part of, it says internal exception: java socket timeoutException: read timed out. I wanna know if this is my computer, or just that the server crashed. I have tried to log into that server on my laptop, but it does the same thing as my desktop computer.
